A New Leaf's Dorothy B. Mitchell Counseling Center (DBMCC) in Mesa provides confidential services for children and their families. Counseling, case management, medication management and support services are provided.

Dorothy B. Mitchell Counseling Center is currently seeking a Spanish/English Bilingual Intake Specialist to join their team. 

Pay Rate: $15.50 per hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday, with flexibility to meet program needs


  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of behavioral health experience required; Master’s degree in a behavioral health related field preferred
  • Must be Spanish/English bilingual and have the ability to communicate effectively in Spanish and English and the ability to interpret and translate
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
  • A clean 39-month motor vehicle record and current auto liability insurance.
  • A Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card or be able to pass various background checks in order to obtain one.
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of standard office equipment, be proficient with personal computers and applicable software programs.
  • Skills necessary to engage and work with others from diverse ethnic and cultural groups, coupled with maintaining professionalism at all times.

Due to licensing requirements, employees must be a minimum 21 years of age

Major areas of responsibility (including but not limited to): 

  • Engage potential clients, ensuring eligibility for services and providing initial assessments.
  • Develop individualized Service Plans and Crisis Safety Plans.
  • Educate clients and their families about services available at A New Leaf and those offered through the RBHA. Provide Case Management and Outreach services as needed.
  • Document and submit routine paperwork such as progress notes, daily activities, special events varied incident reports, etc., as required by program.
  • Use ADHS Practice Guidelines and best practices when designing and implementing Child and Family Team or other collaborative base model.
  • Collaborating with Child and Family Team, arranging for appropriate evaluations, medication monitoring and referrals and community based services.
  • Coordinating comprehensive support through in-home and community based education and interventions to address the families’ goals.
  • Assisting clients and families in obtaining community services, securing appointments with outside services and agencies as needed, including identification of funding sources and linkages to other agencies/services.
  • Supporting the most appropriate and least restrictive education setting inclusive of participating in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings.
  • Provide case management and outreach services as needed. .
