A New Leaf's Faith House is a homeless and domestic violence shelter with 72-beds and 24-hour Emergency Shelter for women and children in crisis. Faith House provides: a crisis hotline, safe housing/meals, case management, on site DES licensed childcare, domestic violence/life skills/parenting education, community resources and referrals, employment assistance/Workforce Access Point Site, financial literacy education/budget counseling and assistance with securing permanent housing.

Faith House is seeking a part time Children's Specialist to work: Monday & Tuesday 12PM-6PM, Wednesday 9AM-2PM and Thursday & Friday 12PM - 6PM.   

Skills/ Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required, Associates Degree or Bachelor's, preferred.
  • Must have one (1) year domestic violence and/or social services experience, including experience working with children; Group facilitation experience preferred.
  • Food Handler's Card, preferred.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation, a clean 39-month motor vehicle record and current auto liability insurance.
  • Must possess a Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card or be able to pass various background checks in order to obtain one.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have the ability to communicate appropriately in both verbal and written.
  • Due to state licensing requirements, applicants must be a minimum 21 years of age. 

Major areas of responsibility (including but not limited to): 

  • Attend and actively contribute to weekly staffing and training. 
  • Facilitate parenting classes for children and parents.
  • Document and submit significant and routine paperwork as required by the program (i.e. progress notes, reports).
  • Assist in preparation of specified FOCUS plans under the direction of the Supervisor.
  • Provide daily resourcing and referrals, acting as an advocate for clients. 
  • Perform initial assessments and assist in the completion of FOCUS plans on all children ages three (3) and over. 
  • Complete safety plans and Hope Scales with children 
  • Assist in the completion of discharge summaries on all children upon their departure from the program.
  • Read client files and daily logs to assist with providing quality services as well as complete individual progress notes daily.
  • Supervise support staff and volunteers in the Children's Center. Plan, organize, and supervise a routine activity calendar for the Children's Center.
  • Participate in required client care supervision on a regular basis as required by state law.

Pay Rate: from $12.60 / hour
