A New Leaf’s East Valley Women’s Shelter (EVWS) is an 8-bed Emergency Shelter that provides safe refuge to women experiencing homelessness. Located in Mesa, the EVWS serves women primarily from the East Valley and can accommodate women from all over the Phoenix area. The East Valley Women’s Shelter focuses on providing shelter to single women, or women without children. All clients are 18 or older and are at or below 100% of the Federal Poverty Level.  Residents may stay at the East Valley Women’s Shelter for up to 120 days. During their stay, women participate in active case management, workforce development assistance, life skills training, financial coaching, and more. 

SCHEDULE: Full-Time; Sunday, 8AM-8PM, Monday - Wednesday 3PM-11PM

PAY RATE: $13.50

Requirements/Qualifications/Skills:  

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of community resources. 
  • Experience working with homeless or economically disadvantaged population, preferred. 
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation. 
  • Clean 39-month motor vehicle record, and current auto liability insurance.
  • Possess or be able to obtain a Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Due to licensing requirements, applicants must be a minimum 21 years of age.

Major areas of responsibility (including but not limited to): 

  • Answer and screen phone calls (multiple lines) and provide resources/screening of crisis calls.
  • Complete client intake/exit forms.
  • Brief clients on house rules, chores, housekeeping, requirements, fire safety instructions and assure adherence.
  • Prepare and/or assist with meal/snack preparation and serving, including assisting with cleanup.
  • Assist with maintaining program appearance: cleanliness and maintenance of agency physical plant, equipment and/or agency vehicles. Report repairs and maintenance needs.
  • Provide varied verbal and physical crisis intervention.
  • Provide transportation in the agency vehicle as needed for scheduled activities and oversee off-site activities.
  • Participate in required supervision on a regular basis as required by state law.

Pay Rate: $13.50 / hour
